who we are
We are a non-profit organization working to improve the life chances of disabled children living in Uganda especially in the greater Luweero area of Uganda .

We endeavor to be ”a beacon of hope to children living with disabilities and disadvantaged in Uganda.”
At Alleviate we believe that ‘Every child Matters’. We are all created in God’s image regardless of what we are, where we come from; children deserve the right to live a normal life and access to services.
ABOUT US
Alleviate (Alleviate child Initiative) stands to advocate and fight for the welfare of disadvantaged children living in Uganda. Founded on grounds that children deserve equal access to medical care and that children with learning disabilities should live in a world free of stigma and abuse. We envision a world where marginalized children and their families lead a dignified and productive life through the provision of health care services and protection from abuse.
Through the acronym PACES, we
Promote collaborative working with other agencies and organisations directly working with children; enable
Accessible medical and health care services and the promotion of
Capacity building for equal opportunities in health; emphasize social civility and equality as a basic rights;
Empower the families and the general public on children’s social and educational needs as well as,
Supporting and helping add value to children living with disabilities by providing services which promote dignity and confidence in their ability.
What recent volunteers say
‘When I first heard about the charity, I was anxious that I may not have the skills needed to work with disbanding children even though I have been a neonatal nurse for 10 years. However, once I arrived I quickly found this was not the case. I was able to provide medical checks on children and their families, train and update local staff with new skills which would enable them to continue with the incredible work they do.’
Amy
“I recall a special time with a 14-year-old boy – afflicted with his erratic movements in arms and legs – hitting himself, injuring his head. We sat together and just held him – I felt him relax in my arms. To be honest, it was hard, as it was obvious that this lad had been lying in his own urine and he did smell – but his need to be embraced was greater than my need to stay clean. By being calm with Rasheed, it helped him to relax and accept Margaret doing some exercises with him.”

Projects
Your donation will help ensure we together fight social Isolation and change societal attitudes towards parents of children with disabilities and their children. We can provide a special place for children, a place they can call home for sensory play, physiotherapy and Occupational therapy and medical services. A place disabled children of the community can call their own, a place to belong.

We need you
Donate
Your chosen financial donation will help us continue providing essential services such as physiotherapy and Occupational therapy services to a community which has little or nothing at all in terms of such services. We’ll continue providing free medical checks and treatment to children and help minimize and or end poverty in the long run. Your gift will enable us fight and end social isolation and stigma attached to disability. A disabled child will not have to be hidden in their parents backyards anymore.
‘Voluntourism’
We will provide you with information you need to make your mind up about volunteering at our Center. We encourage combining work and fun (Voluntourism) The emotional element involved in what we do requires time away to yourself and or, with others just for fun. Sign up for the opportunity to go on a Safari and learn about the Ugandan culture and more. Make lasting memories alone or as part of a group. We look forward to hear from you!
Sponsor a Child
Give a child a chance to thrive in life through our school fees sponsorship scheme. Your chosen gift a month will ensure your sponsored child get all scholastic materials, medical and health care provided for and for girls their sanitary resources.
